ANNE GRIBBONS is a native of Sweden who has been active in dressage in the United States since 1972. She has trained and shown sixteen of her own horses to Grand Prix, nine of which were United States Equestrian Team long listed. A number of her students have competed at the FEI levels, and several have schooled and shown their own horse to Grand Prix with her help. In 2001 her student, Lesley Eden, was the Individual Gold Medalist at the North American Young Riders Championships.
Mrs. Gribbons was a member of the USET PSG-Intermediaries squad at the North American Championships in 1985 and the World Championships in 1986. In 1993 she spent a year on the European show circuit, competing in Dusseldorf, Schoten, Beek, Falsterbo and Aachen. She finished seventh in the 1994 World Championship Trials on Leonardo II, who was also invited to the US World Cup League Finals in the same year. In 1995 she was a member of the Pan American Silver Medal Team on Metallic, whom she schooled to Grand Prix. Metallic, ridden by Robert Dover, was on the Atlanta Olympic Bronze Medal Team and was the 1996 USDF Grand Prix horse of the year.
Anne Gribbons was the North American Representative to the FEI World Cup Committee 1994 – 1997, served for ten years on the US Equestrian Federation (formerly AHSA) Board of Directors, is a member of the USEF High Performance Dressage Committee and a member of the USET National Advisory Board. She is a past chair of the Athletes Advisory Council of the USEF, is a member of the USEF Technical Dressage Committee and the past Chairman of the USEF Active Athletes Committee for Dressage. She served as Chef D’equipe for US riders at the 2003 World Cup Finals in Gothenburg, Sweden.
In 2006 Mrs. Gribbons was named the “Horseman of the Year” by the Chronicle of the horse and was nominated by the FEI Dressage Committee for a promotion to an “Olympic” or five-star judge.
From 2010 to 2012, Anne was the USEF Technical Advisor and coach for dressage. During her tenure the USA earned two individual medals in the 2010 World Equestrian Games and qualified for the 2012 Olympics. In the Pan American Games in 2011, the United States won the team gold medal and swept all three individual medals. In the London 2012 Olympics, the United States finished in sixth position.
Mrs. Gribbons is both a licensed USEF Senior judge and an FEI Judge. She has officiated at numerous CDI’s, Olympic and PanAm trials in the United States, as well as at prestigious events in Europe such as the Stuttgart CHIO, CDI at s’Hertogenbosch Dressage, world cup Finals in Dusseldorf in 2004, and in Las Vegas in 2007. She is also licensed by USEF as a Sport Horse Breeding Judge.
Anne was recently inducted to the USDF Hall of Fame
