She was passionate and enthusiastic about dressage and would happily talk to anyone about the benefits to the horse and the fun and comraderey that could be had pursuing dressage. She was open, warm, friendly and was known to all by the huge smile that always seemed to light up her face. She had furthered her dressage passion by riding freestyles, which combined her love of music, dressage and dance. She had even once qualified for the US Dressage Finals with her beloved Friesian cross, Bentley, with their Batman themed freestyle. She was also a beautiful and graceful competitive ballroom dancer who swore her time on the dance floor improved her ability in the saddle. Sadly and tragically, we lost Shannon unexpectedly in March 2022 as the result of an improbable accident during routine horse training. To honor her spirit and passion for dressage, music and fun, CTDS will be granting one scholarship in Shannon's name each year to a CTDS member (Open, AA, JR or YR) to go towards freestyle expenses, ex: purchasing music or choreography, a freestyle clinic, freestyle entry fees, etc. If you would like to assist CTDS in keeping Shannon's spirit alive by passing along her freestyle passion, donations can be made here.
