Scholarship Submission Guidelines

Awarding a scholarship to a Open, Adult Amateur and Junior/Youth member per year to CTDS member and verifying the following:

  1. Member shall only receive a CTDS scholarship once every two years.
  2. Only one member of a family unit shall receive a scholarship per year.
  3. Scholarships are non-transferable.
  4. Scholarship value shall not exceed the amount specified by the Board.

The scholarships shall be based upon approved volunteering, activity within the club – showing at mini shows, rated shows, clinics, etc….  and/or volunteering at Region 9 Championship show during the Awards year (November 21 of preceding year to November 20 of current year).

  1. Verifies, along with the Volunteer Coordinator, that the scholarship candidate shall have volunteered a minimum of 10 hours of time in some capacity to a CTDS related event. Volunteer hours, skill, or services shall be for the following: CTDS sponsored shows, clinics, educational events, fundraisers or other CTDS related events –  reimbursement of any type (reduced or waived fees for shows or clinics, etc.) will not count towards volunteer hours. These hours must be earned by the applicant.
  2. Verifying that the type and amount of scholarship shall be determined by the CTDS Board.
  3. The Scholarship Program will be funded by the test calling program, donations and % of proceeds from the Fall Finale.
  4. Providing scholarship in the form of reimbursement of expenses for participation in dressage educational activity.
  5. Member will provide receipts within four weeks for reimbursement after participation in the event and submission of article describing their experience.
  6. Requesting Scholarship recipients to draft a review article for the e newsletter explaining their educational experience after their scholarship funded event is completed.
Volunteer hours may be earned by working at mini shows, Bluebonnet show, Fall Finale, assisting with CTDS sponsored clinics, helping organize the Annual Awards Banquet and any CTDS sponsored function. Double volunteer hours are earned by volunteering at the Region 9 Championship Show.


Applications forms must be submitted to the board no later than December 1st of the current year. The scholarships will be awarded at the CTDS Year End Awards Banquet.


To qualify for a $250 scholarship the CTDS member will need to:
  1. Volunteer 10 hours in support of CTDS
  2. Required participation in the following:
  • 2 mini shows or CTDS rated show (front of test must be submitted)
  • take part in a CTDS clinic 


To qualify for a $500 scholarship the CTDS member will need to:
  1. Volunteer 15 hours in support of CTDS
  2. Required participation in the following:
  • 4 mini shows and minimum of one CTDS rated show (front of tests must be submitted)
  • take part in a CTDS clinic
